Q&A: Man of Moon

Q&A: Man of Moon

Man of Moon are a two-piece psychedelic rock band from Edinburgh and after seeing them support at the recent Doves show, we can’t wait to have them at Tut’s Summer Nights with Coors Light on 10th August! We got to have a chat with ½ of the duo, Chris. Check out what he had to say below!

You recently supported Doves at SWG3! Tell us about that gig.

It was pretty surreal to be honest! Was such an honour to get to play with such a great band and also be given the chance to play in the Galvanizers Yard, which was easily the biggest cap venue we’ve played in. We loved it!  We got to have a bevvy and a chat with the guys after aswell and they were so sound and supportive of us!

Any other festivals/ gigs lined up this summer?

We just played at Kelburn garden party a few weeks ago which was class, everyone was jumpin about the place. We’re heading up to Belladrum Festival in a few weeks which we’re excited for. We’re also playing at doonhame festival in Dumfries and we have some very exciting gigs coming up in a few months which we can’t wait to announce.

Any other Scottish bands/artists you’ll be checking out at KTSN19?

Yeah I fancy checking out Gallus, and I defo want to go to the Joesef show to see my pal Cara Rose support him. Her voice is unreal.

What music did you listen to growing up?

When I was a wee boy my mum was playing a lot of beach boys and the kinks, and my sister showed me a lot of 90s hip hop, some 90s grunge but also Billie Holliday and other jazz singers. When I got to my early teens my big cousin showed me loads of psych, krautrock bands and other stuff. I love loadsa different kinda stuff!

If you could have dinner with anyone in music past or present who would it be, and why?

Mabye Iggy Pop. I reckon he’d have some fuckin amazing stories and we’d have a good laugh.

Is there anything that you can’t go on tour without?

I always take vocozones on the road with me which help with singing. Not a very rock n roll answer but they always do the trick even when I’m rough as tatties.

Any exciting plans for the rest 2019?

Yeah as I mentioned before we have some exciting gigs coming up that we’ll be announcing soon! We’re also gonna be gearing up for a busy 2020 with the album coming out, canny wait!
