Artist Spotlight: MRCY
By Amy Middleton
We caught up with MRCY ahead of their headline show at King Tut's on Saturday 31st May...
How did MRCY first originate?
We connected on social media arranging a session, we got along so well in that session that we just kept writing songs until we officially formed the duo and the rest history as they say.
We can’t wait to see you headline at King Tut's on Saturday 31st – what can fans expect from the show?
You can expect a bigger and better show with new songs and bigger vibes
Are there any artists that inspire your music/songwriting? Who and why?
To name a few, Michael Kiwanuka, Sault, Khruangbin, Ebo Taylor, Gnarls Barkley. The soul and singularity in their music is what draws us in.
Do you have a favourite track at the moment?
“Someone to Love You“ by Sault
What is your favourite gig you’ve attended?
Sault in London – best show I’ve ever seen!
What was the first album you bought?
I can’t remember the first album I ever bought but the first I ever received was Parachutes by Coldplay
How is the rest of 2025 looking for you? Any exciting plans you can tell us about?
We’ve got a bunch of exciting gigs this year, festival slots and headline shows in Europe. And obviously a new project for everyone to enjoy.
