Road To Hogmanay: Winner Announced!

Road To Hogmanay is excited to announce The Ray Summers have been voted the public’s favourite to kick start this years Glasgow’s Hogmanay celebrations on George Square.

Ten bands chosen by music and media industry delegates have been showcased over the last three weeks live at George Square.  From these ten, The Ray Summers have been chosen to end 2008 on the ultimate high sharing a stage with Paolo Nutini, Idlewild and Bleachie.

The public’s second favourite Alex Wayt, will take to the stage at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut supporting festival favourites Sergeant as part of King Tuts’ Hogmanay celebrations!

Road To Hogmanay has been a fantastic opportunity for unsigned musicians and bands to gain valuable public support and exposure, the support received by all the bands and the initiative has been hugely appreciated by all involved and is a true testament to the Glasgow public’s enthusiasm for live music.

Geoff Ellis of DF Concerts said “Road To Hogmanay 2008 has been a hugely successful showcase of live music, not surprisingly it demonstrates the ever developing hotbed of talent in Scotland. As we head in to 2009, we hope to continue developing opportunities for new and exciting unsigned music”
