PAUL HAIG

(Artist's Website)

"Who is Paul Haig? He just happened to be lead singer/songwriter in
Josef K, who have become one of the most influential bands in Britain"
(The Guardian)

Postcard Record's holy trinity were Orange Juice (Edwyn Collins), Aztec
Camera (Roddy Frame) and Josef K (Paul Haig).

The Sound Of Young Scotland indeed.

All took the Velvet Underground's debut 'banana' album as a blueprint
and ran with it.

Twenty Years later Franz Ferdinand took the look, the sound and
sensibility of all three and merged it into a Mercury Prize winning
phenomenon.

Paul Haig is an artist whose cult status as an outsider pop genius is
now assured. His influence can clearly be heard amongst the current crop
of post-punk angular pop bands - name checked by both the Killers and
Franz Ferdinand. Even the Klaxon's featured the classic 'Sorry For
Laughing' on their 'bugged out' compilation, Nouvelle Vague covered it
and in turn it was a chart hit for Propaganda in the eighties.

Paul will appear with a five piece band including ex Bluebell and TV21
bassist Neil Baldwin. The set will include acclaimed Josef K material,
solo highlights as well as current material.

Including the recent single, 'Reason', which was record of the week on
Radio 2 Radcliffe/Maconie Show. Mark Radcliffe described 'Reason'
as 'a corker'!!!

Live reviews have included Four Stars in The Herald "Hearing his holy
trinity of It's Kinda Funny, Sorry for Laughing and Something Good,
however, remains a quietly awesome experience." Neil Cooper

His recent albums have averaged four stars with reviews in Uncut,
Pitchfork Media, Daily Express, News Of The World and Scotland On
Sunday.

Any Festival/venue worth its salt will want Paul Haig to appear at it -
not just to say we've got Paul Haig from the mighty Josef K but because
he still delivers a charismatic performance of genuine star quality that
is edgier, harder and more entertaining than most of the young
pretenders to his throne!!! He's also got great songs!
